GREAT WINES NEED TIME

The fun in drinking wine involves more than just enjoying its taste.  While thinking about the year when the wine was made, you can travel in a time capsule and recall the things that happen that year, if you were in your last year as a student and look back fondly on your memories.  It is the perfect drink to enjoy when talking with friends, family or colleagues.

Well this time we are going to introduce to you the 2008 vintage wines.  This year the 2008 vintage will celebrate its 10th anniversary.  In 2008, Mr. Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America.  It was the year when the first African-American became President in American history.

What kind of year was 2008 for you?  Were you married or was one of your children born that year to make this a memorable year?  If so, you might want to consider drinking these vintage wines and spending an agreeable time talking with family and close friends.  Some of these wines can still continue to mature, so if you have a wine cellar, how about keeping them until your children turn twenty years old.  Those who enjoy mature wines will probably appreciate them.

All of the wines which we offer are extremely hard to find even if you search the wine market all over the world.  Please do not miss this opportunity and instead relish it!

This time we are offering four kinds of 2008 vintage wines from Spain, California and Italy.

Pago de Otazu Winery(Spain)

Vinos de Pago.pngThis estate was one of the first wineries to be rated in Vinos de Pago which is considered the most prestigious grade in Spain.  There are extremely hard conditions to achieve this rating and only a few estates have acquired this rating.  In a nutshell, this wine is from a single vineyard.  Currently there are only 15 pagos.

Wine making on the Pago Otazu border can be traced back to the 12th century.  The building on the estate can be traced back to the 14th-16th century.

Please grab the opportunity when it is still available.  The opportunity to drink a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon based red wine from one of Spain’s special winery is a rare thing.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby colour with a slight orange rim. Aromas are still slightly closed. A concentrated wine with aromas of spice, roast, black cherry, black berry and other berries. The wine gradually opens in the glass. The attack is smooth, followed by a soft acidity. The wine has a solid framework and well balanced taste. The fine, rich tannins form a powerful structure. An elegant, medium ~ full bodied wine. Serve now or later in large glasses. A delicious wine.

Beaucanon Estate(California)

Mr. Louis de Connick, the owner of the famous Beaucanon Estate was born in Bordeaux, France.  The de Connick family has been making wines for 260 years in Saint-Emilion and owns a few Chateaux.

Louis’ father, Jacques came to Napa Valley to look for the best vineyards in 1978.  Louis began his wine making training at the age of 18 in Saint-Emilion and subsequently took over his father, Jacques’ project in Napa Valley.

The Beaucanon Estate wines best express the terroir of Napa which is characterized by an enriched rich fruit taste.  Their wines are matured in French and American oak barrels.  They are well balanced when young but also have a wonderful aging potential.  One recognizes that style of the nuances of his Bordeaux origin.

2008 Beaucanon Estate Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a trendy grape variety which is currently drawing much attention in the world right now.  It would not be an exaggeration to say that it is impossible to find a 10 year aged Napa Valley Cabernet Franc in the world.  The wine is also very reasonable considering that the soaring of the Napa wine prices.  If you bring a bottle of Cabernet Franc to a party you are sure to get a lot of attention.

The wine also has nuances of cassis, cherry and dried fruits.  Its beautifully concentrated flavor is wonderfully supported by a fresh acidity and rich tannin.  While it can still withstand further maturation, it can also be drunk immediately.

It is perfect with steak, grilled lamb, grilled mushrooms or Camembert cheese.
