Beaucanon Estate, Napa, California

Beaucanon.jpgSituated in beautiful Napa Valley, Beaucanon Estate reflects the proud history and experience of the de Coninck family of Saint Emilion where the family has been growing vines for over 260 years.  Their Napa history began in 1978, when Jacques de Coninck went to the Napa Valley in search for prime vineyards.  He was convinced that the Napa Valley held the promise of great wines.  He was able to select 91 hectares of unique vineyard sites with the perfect soil, aspect and climate.  The grapes grown there are of outstanding quality.  With the blessings of nature and the knowledgeable hands of an experienced Bordelaise winemaker, the wines produced express the intense Beaucanon-1986_resize.jpgfruit quality of California along with the balance and elegance of Bordeaux.  These vineyards have recently been improved with the addition of new Cabernet Sauvignon vines.  Clone 337 is the most recent development of Bordeaux types in the valley.  Clone 4 is a classic Californian developed from the celebrated B.V. vines.  With this pedigree, these vineyards are the envy of viticulturists throughout the valley.
Beaucanon_01_resize.jpgLouis de Coninck, the winemaker, carries on the wine making history of the family.  Trained from age 18 in Saint Emilion, he joined his father Jacques in Napa Valley.  His wines display finesse, complexity, structure, mouth-feel and the luscious flavors of Napa Valley fruit.  Like all great winemakers, Louis excels at highlighting the natural characteristics of perfectly ripe fruit and the "terroir." The wines are aged in carefully selected French and American Oak barrels for 9-24 months.  They are concentrated, richly flavored and balanced when young but will further improve with maturity.  The estate comprises of:
The Longwood Ranch: Surrounding the new winery the most southern vineyard boasts unique microclimates with gentle, hilly contours and mixed stony loan and sandy soils.
The Oakville Vineyards:   Among the most exceptional blocks of Merlot in Napa Valley.  Clay soil with infusions of gravelly profiles,  the vines produce low-yields of concentrated, highly quality fruit.  Prestigious location near Far Niente, Mondavi and Opus One.
The St. Helena Vineyard: A reputed location for exceptional Chardonnay with proven growing conditions. Gravelly loam and rock outcrop. One of the finest vineyard sites in Napa Valley, situated close to Duckhorn, Turley, Rombauer and Grace Family.
